Potential Garden Plots

The image at left is of an urban farm plot in Birmingham, Alabama run by our friends at Jones Valley Urban Farm. Inspired by their work and other sustainable farmers throughout our state, and increasingly concerned about the dire health statistics of our community, we've decided to do something. We're developing a nonprofit organization that seeks to collaborate with the University of Alabama, the City of Tuscaloosa, the Tuscaloosa City Schools, and other community partners to address healthy eating and creating a more sustainable community. We plan to achieve these goals by growing vegetables at plots throughout the city in collaboration with schools, private land owners, the city, and others.

In anticipation of our upcoming meeting with Mayor Maddox, we've created an extensive Google Map to show the various plots under consideration. Please visit the map here to see our ideas for developing sustainable vegetable gardens throughout the city.
